Free Glastonbury

Loads of things you can do for free, in and around Glastonbury Town in Somerset. Includes a handy map showing recommended cycle and walking routes around the Tor and onto the Somerset Levels.

Our Furry and Feathered Glastonbury Community

Much as dog lovers might try and deny it, other animals exist too. I recently wrote a post on visiting Glastonbury with canine companions, so I thought I better write about our other furry and feathered visitors too.

A Magical Portal on the Somerset Levels

Photo taken on the Somerset Levels by Vicki Steward

Don’t tell everybody, but I think I’ve found a magical portal on the Somerset Levels. On a Sunday afternoon, at the beginning of Summer, I went out alone for a long cycle ride, intending to see a bit of nature and get fit. I got as far as Ham Wall Nature Reserve, only a couple of … Read more

Old Oaks Touring and Glamping Park

Old Oaks Touring Site near Glastonbury

A Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of the Somerset Countryside. James and Tara White got in touch to ask me to write about  Old Oaks Touring and Glamping Park. It looks like a slightly twisted junk shop run by an acid head. Actually, I’m pleased it isn’t in Glastonbury, because its only … Read more

The Avalon Marshes – Flat and Wet like Proper Scrumpy Cider

Swans on Ham Wall Nature Reserve, Avalon Marshes, Glastonbury by Vicki Steward

One of the wonderful things about living in Glastonbury is going to visit somewhere else, especially when that somewhere else is a complete contrast to the Town, and is only a 10 minute cycle away. It does sometimes amaze me that people spend a small fortune going on a workshop to find peace and serenity … Read more
